Rohullah Nekpa, the first ever Afghan Olympic medal winner

Congratulations to Rohullah Nikpa for his winning a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympic games on Wednesday. Rohullah beat the current world champion in the Tae Kwon Do martial arts contest, which made him the first Afghan ever to win an Olympic Medal. President Karzai phoned him with congratulations and offered him a free house in Kabul. Afghan Wireless awarded him a cash prize.
In an interview after the award ceremony, it is reported that Rohullah hoped above all that bringing a bronze medal back to Kabul will help guide his country to a peaceful future.(KabulPress)

These days almost all the news items about Afghanistan were disappointing; nothing else were heard except bomb blasting and bloodshed in several parts of the country. Among all, there was a good news that surprised all Afghans around the worl, and that is the the winning of a bronzze medal by an Afghan ethlet in the Bejing 2008 Olympic games.

While there are many young people being misled to commit suicide attacks and kill human beings along with themselves, on the other side of the coin, there are people like Rohullah Nekpa or Nesar Ahmad Bahawi who in this contrast try to get a name a pride for the country.
These people give hopes to the others, otherwise ….
